Padar Island
Labuan Bajo

Pulau Padar (Pulau meaning island) is the third largest of the Komodo Islands which resides between Komodo Island and Rinca Island. All three form part of the Komodo National Park which is famous for its Komodo dragons that give the park its name. Padar is a stunningly beautiful island and one of the only places in the world where you can find pink, black, and white sand beaches all on one island. I have put together this complete visitor’s guide of Pulau Padar including where it is, how to get here, and what to expect when you arrive!

Pulau Padar lies within Komodo National Park and is located about 30km (20 miles) from Labuan Bajo, a small fishing town on the westernmost part of Flores. It belongs to the Lesser Sunda chain of the Indonesian islands in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara. Komodo National Park is a true masterpiece of nature, centered between Lombok and Flores. The islands are made up of rusty-red volcanic hills, savannahs on land, and beautiful coral reefs in the water. It’s home to approximately 4,000 Komodo dragons that are mostly found on Komodo Island. Just a small portion of them live on Padar, and the ones that do, are located in the northern part which is rarely ever visited by tourists.
